PRODUCT DETAIL

Appearance: Matt.
Spreading Rate: 8 – 10 m²/litre dependent on surface texture and porosity.
Solids: ± 71% by mass and ± 52% by volume.
Density: ± 1.4 kg/litre.
Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 50-60 µm.
Viscosity: ± 70 Kµ.
Flash Point: 43°C.

Storage:

  • Keep containers properly sealed.
  • Store away from direct heat, sun and severe cold in a place with adequate ventilation.

Features

  • Provides a smooth base for topcoats.
  • Easy brushing and leveling.
  • Excellent adhesion on properly primed or sealed surfaces.
  • Easily sanded for smoother finishes.
  • Lead free.

Intended Usages

  • As an undercoat on interior/exterior primed metal, interior wood or hardboard.
  • For use as a base coat over correctly primed plaster.

Application Details

  • Mixing: Stir before use with a flat paddle to an even consistency. Stir occasionally during use.
  • Method: Roller, brush.
  • Thinning: Prominent ProGold Mineral Turpentine.
  • Cleaning: Remove as much of the product as possible from the application equipment before cleaning with Prominent ProGold Mineral Turpentine.

Conditions:

  • Temperature between 5°C and 40°C.
  • Relative humidity of less than 85%, preferably between 10:00 and 16:00.
  • Ideally apply when the temperature of the substrate is at least 2°C above dew point.

Drying time:
Surface dry – 3 hours, Hard dry – 14 hours at 23°C. Note: Higher temperatures will accelerate the drying times (approximately halved for every 10°C increase), whilst lower temperatures will retard the drying time (approximately doubled for every 10°C decrease).

Recoating time:

18 hours.

One coat.

Surface Preparations
Metal (new):

  • Clean surface with Prominent ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5) and scouring pads, rinse with clean water and allow drying.
  • Prime with Prominent Machinery Enamel Primer, Prominent Rust Primer or Prominent Ultra Prime.

Metal (rusted):

  • Remove rust, clean surface with Prominent ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5) and scouring pads, rinse with clean water and allow drying.
  • Prime with Prominent Machinery Enamel Primer, Prominent Rust Primer or Prominent Ultra Prime.

Wood:

  • Sand smooth, remove dust and prime with Prominent Wood Primer.

Hardboard:

  • Apply directly.

Cement plaster:

  • Prime with Prominent Dampcure or Prominent Plaster Primer.

Rhinolite:

  • Prime with Prominent Plaster Primer or Trade Plaster Primer.

Emulsion Paint:

  • Clean and apply directly.

Enamel Paint:

  • Abrade and apply directly.

Paint in poor condition:

  • Remove and treat as new work.

Limitations

  • Cannot be applied to unprimed surfaces.
  • Must be overcoated for protection.

Safety

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Ensure to maintain good ventilation during application and drying process.
  • In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with running water and seek medical advice.
  • If product is ingested drink plenty of water or milk. Do not induce vomiting at any time. Seek medical advice.

  • To avoid any risk of spillage, always transport in a secure upright position.
