COLOURS AVAILABLE

As per latest colour card – Tint bases to tint most of the colours on the tint system.

PRODUCT DETAIL

Appearance: High gloss.
Spreading Rate: 6 – 8 m²/litre dependent on surface texture and porosity.
Solids: ± 66% by weight and ± 55% by volume.
Density: ± 1,16 kg/litre.
Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 2 coats at 60 µm per coat minimum
Viscosity: ± 70 Kµ.
Flash Point: 43°C.

Storage:

  • Keep containers properly sealed.
  • Store away from direct heat, sun and severe cold in a place with adequate ventilation.

TECHNICAL DATASHEET

Features

  • Quick drying: Hard within 6 hours.
  • Alkali resistant: Can go directly onto cement floors.
  • Hard wearing: Withstands domestic traffic.
  • 100% lead free.

Intended Usages

  • Light to domestic traffic floor coating.
  • Interior coating in place of conventional gloss enamel.
  • On window sills.

Application Details

  • Mixing: Stir before use with a flat paddle to an even consistency. Stir occasionally during use.
  • Method: Roller, brush.
  • Thinning: ProGold Mineral Turpentine.
  • Cleaning: Remove as much of the product as possible from the application equipment before cleaning with ProGold Mineral Turpentine.

Conditions:

  • Temperature between 5°C and 40°C.
  • Relative humidity of less than 85%, preferably between 10: 00 and 16: 00.
  • Ideally apply when the temperature of the substrate is at least 2°C above dew point.

Drying time:
Surface dry:  1-2 hours, Hard dry:  4-6 hours.
Note:  Higher temperatures will accelerate the drying times (approximately halved for every 10°C increase), whilst lower temperatures will retard the drying time (approximately doubled for every 10°C decrease).

Recoating time:
 18 hours at 23°C.

Requirements:
 Two coats.

Surface Preparations
Cement surface (new and old):

  • Acid wash with 10% solution of Spirits of Salts and water.
  • Allow to react for 15 minutes. Wash down with clean water and allow to dry.
  • Remove oil stains with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner, allow drying and apply directly.

Painted surface in good condition:

  • Abrade surface, clean off and apply directly.

Painted surface in poor condition:

  • Strip and treat as new work.

Limitations

  • Cannot be applied to wet surfaces (moisture content must not exceed 15%).
  • Cannot withstand rising damp.
  • Cannot withstand heavy traffic like Prominent 2-Pack Polyurethane Floor coating or Prominent 2-Pack Floor Epoxy.
  • Product needs to cure adequately to prevent tyre marking.
  • Do not park vehicles with hot or wet tyres on the surface for 7 days.

Safety

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Ensure to maintain good ventilation during application and drying process.
  • In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with running water and seek medical advice.
  • If product is ingested drink plenty of water or milk. Do not induce vomiting at any time. Seek medical advice.
  • Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for detailed information about the product and transportation and classification criteria. MSDS is available on www.prominentpaints.co.za or from Prominent Customer Service Department.
  • To avoid any risk of spillage, always transport in a secure upright position.

Tint Bases
The tint base containers are only filled to levels which are specific for each tint base to allow the calculated volume of colourant to be added in order to achieve the volume indicated on the container after tinting. Tint bases and colourants are unfinished products which should not be used on their own. Only once the prescribed colourant is added to the specific tint base will the finished product comply with the technical features and related information as set out in this TDS.

Colourant to be used: Prominent Paints colourants are 100% Lead Free specifically formulated for use with Prominent Paints Pro-Matic tinting system.

Tint Bases: Clear Tint Base.
