PRODUCT DETAIL

Appearance: Low sheen with fine texture.
Spreading Rate: 2 – 5m²/litre, dependent on surface texture and porosity.
Solids: ± 65% by mass and ± 45% by volume.
Density: ± 1,36 kg/litre.
Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 2 coats at 90 µm per coat minimum.
Viscosity: ± 120 Kµ with paste paddle.
Flash Point: Non-flammable.

Storage:

  • Keep containers properly sealed.
  • Store away from direct heat, sun and severe cold in a place with adequate ventilation.

Life Expectancy: 12 years for specified exterior applications.

TECHNICAL DATASHEET

Features

  • UV resistant: Resists severe sunlight conditions – normal fading of colours can take place over time.
  • Excellent flexibility to keep hairline cracks obliterated, when applied at less than 5m²/l.
  • Waterbased: Easy to apply and clean up.
  • Low dirt retention.
  • Tough and durable for long term protection of exterior walls.
  • Good water resistance to prevent penetration of dampness on exterior walls.
  • Can be tinted to specific colour requirements.
  • Lead free.

Intended Usages

  • To weatherproof and to protect exterior wall surfaces.
  • To obliterate hairline cracks in exterior cement plasters.
  • For application to cement plaster, unglazed bricks, breeze blocks and fibre cement.

Application Details

  • Mixing: Stir before use with a flat paddle to an even consistency. Stir occasionally during use.
  • Method: Roller, brush.
  • Thinning: Not recommended.
  • Cleaning: Remove as much of the product as possible from the application equipment before cleaning with water.

Conditions:

  • Temperature between 5°C and 40°C. Relative humidity of less than 85%, preferably between 10:00 and 16:00.
  • Ideally apply when the temperature of the substrate is at least 2°C above dew point.

Drying time:
1-2 hours at 23°C.
Note: Higher temperatures will accelerate the drying times (approximately halved for every 10°C increase), whilst lower temperatures will retard the drying time (approximately doubled for every 10°C decrease).

Recoating time:
4 hours at 23°C.

Requirements:
Two coats.

Surface Preparations
Cement plaster:

  • One coat Prominent Dampcure or Prominent Plaster Primer.

Unglazed bricks, breeze blocks and fibre cement:

  • One coat Prominent Dampcure or Prominent Plaster Primer.

Chalky surfaces:

  • Wire brush/high-pressure water jet the surface and apply one coat Prominent Dampcure or Prominent Surface Restorer.

Sound matt emulsion painted surfaces:

  • Clean down with Prominent ProGold General Purpose cleaner/water mixture (1:5).
  • Rinse with water, allow to dry.
  • If sound, apply directly.

Sound gloss or sheen painted surfaces:

  • Sand down to a matt finish and then wash with Prominent ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5).
  • Rinse with water, allow to dry.
  • If sound, apply directly.

Painted surface in poor condition, i.e. extensive peeling:

  • Remove to sound surface and treat as new work.

Limitations

  • Spot touch-ups will lead to colour/texture variations, to ensure consistent appearance ensure that the batch number on all the containers used are the same, where batch numbers on the containers differ, intermix before use.
  • Can only be applied under specified climatic conditions.
  • Spreading rate of 5m²/litre cannot be exceeded.
  • Cannot be applied to bare, unprimed metal.
  • Cannot be overcoated with non-flexible paints.

Safety

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Ensure to maintain good ventilation during application and drying process.
  • In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with running water and seek medical advice.
  • If product is ingested drink plenty of water or milk. Do not induce vomiting at any time. Seek medical advice.

  • To avoid any risk of spillage, always transport in a secure upright position.

Tint Bases
The tint base containers are only filled to levels which are specific for each tint base to allow the calculated volume of colourant to be added in order to achieve the volume indicated on the container after tinting. Tint bases and colourants are unfinished products which should not be used on their own. Only once the prescribed colourant is added to the specific tint base will the finished product comply with the technical features and related information as set out in this TDS.

Colourant to be used:
Prominent colourants are lead free specifically formulated for use with Prominent Pro-Matic tinting system. ICC colourants which are lead free using only Prominent supported formulations on Largo 2000.

Tint Bases:
Pastel Base and Clear Base.
