TECHNICAL DATASHEET

Features

  • Alkali resistant: Protects subsequent coats against alkali attack.
  • Good penetration: Dissolved binder penetrates porous surfaces and seals them off.
  • Good adhesion to porous and correctly prepared chalky surfaces.

Intended Usages

  • Superior primer/sealer for new cement plaster.
  • Primer/sealer for gypsum plaster, hardboard, fibre cement, gypsum boards, rhinolite and glasstone.

Application Details

  • Mixing: Stir well before use with a flat paddle to an even consistency. Stir occasionally during use.
  • Method: Brush or roller.
  • Thinning: ProGold Mineral Turpentine.
  • Cleaning: Remove as much of the product as possible from the application equipment before cleaning with ProGold Mineral Turpentine.

Conditions:

  • Temperature between 5°C and 40°C.
  • Relative humidity of less than 85%, preferably between 10:00 and 16:00.
  • Ideally, apply when the temperature of the substrate is at least 2ºC above dew point.
  • If possible away from direct sunlight.

Drying time:
Surface dry: 4 hours, Hard dry: 8 hours at 23ºC.
Note: higher temperatures will accelerate the drying times (approximately halved for every 10ºC increase), whist lower temperatures will retard the drying times (approximately doubled for every 10ºC decrease)

Recoating time
:16 hours at 23ºC

Requirements:
 One coat.

Surface Preparations
Cement plaster:

  • Apply directly.

Cement plaster with rising damp:

  • Providing the damp is below 40%.
  • Apply one thinned coat of Prominent Dampcure (up to 20% with ProGold Mineral Turpentine) and a 2nd coat un-thinned.
  • For Neuklad finishing coats first apply 1 coat Neutron Alkali Resistant Sealer.

Chalky surfaces:

  • Remove chalkiness, and then apply one coat Neutron Alkali Resistant Sealer diluted 20% with ProGold Mineral Turpentine.

Fibre Cement:

  • Remove dust and apply directly.

Gypsum Board & Plaster:

  • Remove dust and apply directly.

Not recommended for redecorating – primer only.

Limitations

  • Use limited to that of a primer only.
  • Can not stop damp.
  • Can only be used on absorbent surfaces.
  • Moisture content must not exceed 15 %.
  • Needs to be over-coated as it is not UV stable.

Safety

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Ensure to maintain good ventilation during application and drying process.
  • In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with running water and seek medical advice.
