PRODUCT DETAIL

Appearance: Gloss.
Spreading Rate: 6-8 m²/l dependent on surface texture and porosity.
Solids: ± 33% by mass and ± 25% by volume.
Density: ± 1.00kg/l.
Recommended Dry Film Thickness: ± 40μm per coat
Viscosity at 23°C: ± 100Kμ.
Flash Point: 38°C minimum.
Respecting the environment: Dispose of excess product and containers in a responsible manner without harming the environment.
Storage:

  • Keep containers properly sealed.
  • Store away from direct heat, sun and severe cold in a place with adequate ventilation.

Intended Usages

  • Final coat for correctly prepared and primed interior and exterior cement plaster, metal, wood or previously painted surfaces in sound condition.

Application Details

  • Mixing: Stir well before use with a flat paddle to a homogenous consistency. Stir occasionally during use.
  • Method: Brush, roller (use short nap roller – mohair).
  • Thinning: ProGold Mineral Turpentine if required up to maximum 10%.
  • Cleaning: ProGold Mineral Turpentine.

Application Conditions:

  • Surface Temperature between 5°C and 40°C.
  • Ambient Temperature between 5°C and 40°C.
  • Relative Humidity between 10% and 85%.
  • Ideally, apply when the temperature of the substrate is at least 2ºC above dew point and if possible away from direct sunlight.

Touch dry: 4 hours at 23°C.

Recoating time: 16h at 23ºC.

Full cure: 7 – 21 day depending on weather conditions.

Note: higher temperatures will accelerate the drying times (approximately halved for every 10°C increase) whilst lower temperatures will retard the drying times (approximately doubled for every 10°C decrease.

Requirements: 2 coats minimum.

Surface Preparations
Surfaces must be sound, clean and dry (moisture level below 15%) before painting.

New Work:

Cement plaster:

  • 1 coat Access Plaster Primer and 1 coat Prominent Select Universal Undercoat.

Gypsum plaster:

  • 1 coat Access Plaster Primer and 1 coat Prominent Select Universal Undercoat.

Metal (new)

  • Clean surface with ProGold Multi Surface Etch Cleaner with abrasive pad to remove any oil, paint and apply 1 coat Prominent Machinery Enamel Primer – Zinc phosphate or 2 coats Prominent Rust Primer.

Metal (rusted)

  • Remove rust. Clean surface with ProGold Multi Surface Etch Cleaner with abrasive pad, rinse with water and allow drying. Apply 2 coats Prominent Rust Primer and 1 coat Prominent Select Universal Undercoat.

Redecorating:
It is advisable to test the compatibility of coatings when redecorating is involved, i.e. paint a small section and then check the adhesion after 24 hours by applying a strip of masking tape and attempting to rip the paint off.

Gloss enamel:

  • Sand down to a matt finish, spot prime exposed metal with Prominent Rust Primer and apply 1 coat Prominent Select Universal Undercoat.

Sound matt emulsion paint:

  • Sand to matt finish, clean with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner diluted 1:10 with water and abrasive, rinse with water, allow drying and apply directly.

Sound sheen emulsion paint:

  • Sand to matt finish, clean with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner diluted 1:10 with water and abrasive, rinse with water, allow drying and apply directly.

Poor condition surfaces, i.e. excessive peeling:

  • Strip down and treat as per new work.

It is advisable to test the compatibility of coatings when redecorating is involved, i.e. paint a small section and then check the adhesion after 24 hours by applying a strip of masking tape and attempting to rip the paint off.

Limitations

  • Cannot be applied to unprimed surfaces.
  • Apply only under specified conditions.
  • Colour changes generally first require a coat of Prominent Paints Select Universal Undercoat.
  • Very cold conditions will lengthen the drying time.
  • Moisture content must not exceed 15%.
  • Apply to the correct spreading rates and adhere to the correct recoating times to prevent wrinkling.

Safety

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Ensure to maintain good ventilation during application and drying process.
  • Wear a suitable dust mask if sanding.
  • In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner. Avoid contact with eyes. In the event where product came in contact with eyes rinse immediately with running water and seek medical advice.
  • If product is ingested drink plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting at any time. Seek medical advice.
  • Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for detailed information about the product and transportation and classification criteria. MSDS is available from Prominent Paints Customer Service Department.
  • To avoid any risk of spillage, always transport in a secure upright position.
